BOXING CLUB

Chapter 2

Alfred finds himself laying in the bed the next morning. Still suffering from the beating the day before. His aunt pearl questioning him about and how he gotten bruised, he told her he fell off a gate but she knew he was not telling the truth. But while questioning him she explained to him that Henry and his dad returned him home after finding him laying in the street. Then their conversations shifted to James, he tells her about how they came up with the plan but he refused to go. Mid conversation she had to leave for work,  Alfred left by himself wanted to get out the apartment. So he leaves but once he get outside the word around is that major and the other are looking for him. Then he decides to visit the gym Henry told him about, Mr.Donatelli's gym. Once he get to the gym he tells Donatelli he want to be a fighter.

Chapter 3

The two started talking about more about Donatelli took his weight, height and analyst his physical features for a boxer. Donatelli question him "like who sent you" and "what he want to accomplish here". Donatelli turns on the light to shows him the ring and explains to him that it is different from street fighting. Because he previously saw his marks on his face from major and the others. He points out different things around the gym like the bags that Alfred would be soon practicing with. He explains to Alfred what it will take to be a contender and things he has to do,  like his new diet and schedule. He tells him it won't be easy, then the conversation shifted by Donatelli telling Alfred to tell his parents but Alfred tells him he has none. So Alfred gives Donatelli a little insight of himself, he tells him that he dropped out in the 11th grade. So Donatelli encouraged him to go back and reminds Alfred how hard it will be also that he will always be there. Then Alfred leaves to return back to the apartment.

 

Chapter 4

The next day Alfred was on his way to church. As he was walking to the church his pass a protest for black rights. He was ask to join by an old friend in high school but once he refused some one called him a "happy little darky". He makes it to church but during the session he saw Major and Hollis waiting on him, now knowing they wasn't done with him. But then turn back around and they both were gone. After church they went to eat dinner at his aunt's house. Which then he had a long conversation with his uncle they talked about new opportunities for black people. Then they started to talk about Jeff more Alfred's cousin, how he went to college and was so accomplished. Then Alfred compared himself to Jeff and didn't fell as accomplished as Jeff. He wanted to tell him about Donatelli but he didn't. Then they headed back home. There Alfred thought about what Donatelli told him about being a contender so he sets the alarm to start his schedule that was given to him. 

 

Chapter 5

So he wakes up early in the morning to run but was stop and questioned by some cops. He explained to them he was a boxer so they let him off free. When he makes it home aunt pearl wants to know where he was he didn't tell her, he said I was walking. Then her questioning him he tells her, he want to be somebody. The bust out the door for work. Once he makes it to work the owners was asking him about the robbery and if he knew the other boys that was with James. But he wouldn't tell them, so after that it was kind of strange because they treated him like he was unworthy. So they wouldn't let him do things he did on the usually like go to the bank. While sweeping he see the alarm wires and think about pulling them out to bring James back so he knew that he didn't rat them out. He then blames himself for believing Donatelli but while walking out he saw Henry and forget about everything he was just thinking about the gym 

 

Chapter 6

 Alfred returns to the gym but when he get there, there is no Donatelli or Henry. But the gym was crowded with people that he didn't know. He saw a sign that said amateur $2 but he didn't know where/who  to give the money too. He ask around to only find out that it isn't important. So he meets Denny because he couldn't do a sit up the right way. He basically mentors Alfred and shows him the correct way. But red was kind of slick out of the mouth. Not really showing much care for Alfred. Then he sees Henry Alfred wants to know  where he has been then, he tell him he was doing something for Bud. Alfred puzzled who Bud is. Then red demands a man to tape his hand and called Bud, after that he immediately founded out. Bud was Donatelli assistant. Bud then tell red he is not doing it, red wonders off. Then return to tell him about a headgear to box but bud told him he couldn't spare at that moment. So red responded with a nasty attitude and the two went back and forward at each other. Until bud smacked red across the face causing red to flee out of the gym. Bud then introduces himself to Alfred and tell him that he has tickets to watch a fight, cause Donatelli was talking about him.

Chapter 7 

 Alfred and the others went to see the fight that Bud had told him about earlier it was at Madison square garden. The arena was packed everyone was there to see the fight that day. Everyone was there just to see one of Donatelli boxers Willie. The word around town was Willie is the best boxer and will become Donatelli's new Champion. Once Alfred and Henry makes it inside they see jelly belly another boxer. Then before the fight began they talked about Willie. Then he Jelly Belly asked him if he ever saw boxing magazines, which takes him to when him and Alfred used to see the magazines and skip to the wrestling section. Then they fight began first the rounds was slow not really up to pace. Then it began to get faster Willie knowing his opponent down almost KO'D he find himself back to his feet ready to go. While fighting his opponents punched him in the eye which cause it to bleed out. Donatelli was worried about it so he canceled the fight. So back in the locker room Willie was mad saying he would've won if Donatelli didn't call off the fight. He tells Donatelli that he would get a new manager but surprisingly Donatelli tells him to go ahead. Then Alfred and the others analyst the fight saying that he could go all the way because he showed some dog. Then Alfred takes a ride home with a new friend spoon he explained to Alfred about boxing also how he used to be a boxer but he stop to become a full time college student. While Henry was talking to him Alfred was daydreaming about him becoming a champion boxer

 

Chapter 8

 Major and the others took Alfred back to the clubhouse to try to force him to make him rob the store again. They want him to disable the alarm. In this chapter Alfred stand up to the others, even though he is always scared of them. Alfred refuses to go even though major pulled out an knife on him .Then they let Alfred go free since they couldn't influence him to rob the bank with them 

 

Chapter 9

Alfred started off in the chapter by training. Doing the routines that Donatelli told him to do during their first meeting with each other. He runs for about an hour before going inside to fill up. When he gets home aunt pearl is questioning him again worried that he was doing something he wasn't supposed to be. He tells her that he is getting fit so that he could become a boxer. She isn't too fun of this idea. So she encouraged him not to do it. But Alfred already made up his mind and made it clear he wasn't changing it. By telling her, she would get a big house when he becomes a boxer. 

 

Chapter 10

Now Alfred is experiencing more training that is very painful. So painful that in the middle of the night he would wake up in pain. At the beginning he feel like everyone is on him because he is newer than the other boxers. Aunt pearl wasn't so happy about him boxing so she tries to get the reverend to guide him not doing it and Alfred secretly wants him to, too because he doesn't want to box anymore. But the reverend didn't he said it was a good thing to do. Then he starts to get in shape, and is now feeling better. Alfred feel as if no one is talking about him anymore so he feels he can go harder. At work Lou Epstein was a boxer, which surprised Alfred "lightning Lou Epstein". Lou reveals that he likes Donatelli and Bud but wasn't a fan of how it change. Now Alfred want to train harder and get in the ring to spare. Aunt pearl leave to go out of town for business, leaves the girls with aunt Dorothy and leave Alfred at the apartment by himself. Then Alfred saw major on the street major told him they were just playing at their last conference, when Alfred stood up to them. He then offers Alfred to an party, he explained to them that James would be there. Henry didn't like Major's proposal that well because he thought major was up to something. Henry told him to join them at the movies that night but Alfred have to see James. So now Alfred is on his way to the clubhouse for the party.

Chapter 11 

When he arrive he see major and others but he don't see James. Major tell him that James will  come. They then offer him wine and liquor but he feline them down multiple times. Then he finally just try a little bit of it. Major girlfriend then introduced him to her cousin. Since the beginning she is comfortable with Alfred because she put her arms around him. Then they bring out weed and the girl with Alfred encouraged him to try it and he does. Then the next morning the party still going on and James finally arrived. Alfred noticed that James was looking different since they last met. Alfred tries to tell him about the burglar alarm, how he didn't know but James wasn't buying it. Then James start to snort up a white power. Alfred want to stop him but he feel to sick from the drug the previous night.

Chapter 12 

 The party is finally over, and Alfred went back to the apartment. But he passed out once he made it there from all the drugs that he had done the night before. Then the phone rings and it brings him back to consciousness. It was aunt pearl she told him that she wouldn't return in a while. Then he watched T.V. And feel asleep. Then he started to pass out all places that he went like the bathroom and other places. Then major calls him to remind him  about some plans to go to Coney Island. Then major and the others came to pick up Alfred so they could go. Once there major send the others to get them some food while major and Alfred is waiting a police officer approached them asking where is their license. They both jumped out the car in seek to escape from the police and Alfred realized that the car is stolen. Once away he goes to see an movie then went back home. After that he wants to be alone and stays to himself and away from everyone. Then he decides to quit boxing.
